Introduction :
Physical restraint is a coercive intervention commonly used to prevention individuals in mental health services from harming themselves or others( National Institute for Health and Care Excellence,2015), which should be used as a last resort in usual practice. Physical restraint may cause severe effects on staff or patient injury and difficulties in maintaining a therapeutic relationship(Soininen et al.,2016). Therefore, in order to promote the minimization of physical restraint in the psychiatric ward of Shatin Hospital in 2020. A training chair was designed under the nursing team's opinions and it was approved by the department as a Continuous Quality Improvement ( CQI) Project. The Training Chair (Pic 1,2) have a movable padded frame up to head level to reduce surrounding stimulation to maintain the engagement with the patient by a sitting position, it also enables the patient with a comfortable position and at eye-to-eye level with staff. Objectives :

Methodology :
The retrospective review in 5 of the psychiatric ward of Shatin Hospital was started in November,2022. Total 60 wards staffs and 30 patients were invited to complete the questionnaires. Two 4 points Likert-scale questionnaires were designed respectively to access both ward staff and patient's attitude towards the training chair. A statistical review was conducted to identify the efficacy of training chair, physical restraint and Injury On Duty rate.
