Introduction :
Polypharmacy is commonly seen in DM patient, resulting in poor drugs adherence & misunderstanding, which can lead to DM complications. Therefore, a systematic and formal drugs sample album is introduced to provide drug education during consultation since Dec 2019.
Objectives :
To evaluate the perception of patients/carers and health care providers on the use of Drugs Sample Album for drug education in TWEH DM clinic. Drugs sample album includes anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, lipid-lowering and anti-platelet drugs.
Methodology :
The study was piloted in DM clinic from 10 Dec 2019 to 14 Feb 2020. All doctors/DM nurses and DM patients/carers were invited to answer 8 questions with a self-administrated 5 point likert scale questionnaire survey if they have used the drugs sample album during consultation.
Result & Outcome :
Eight Doctors/ DM nurses and 30 patients/ carers had completed the questionnaire. All doctors/ DM nurses (100%) and 27 patients/ carers (90%) agreed or very agreed with the use of drugs sample album for education. Remaining 3 patients (10%) slightly agreed.
One doctor disagreed that the drugs sample album could shorten the waiting time, while one patient disagreed that the drugs sample album could enhance the drugs adherence.

Conclusion:
This pilot study showed that health care providers & patients/ careres were satisfied with the use of this simple & creative drugs sample album for drug education in DM clinic. It was recommended to promote to all SOPD clinic in TWEH.

Benefits & Implications:
The drugs sample album could minimize the risk of medication incidents, improve drugs compliance and can significantly decrease health care cost for preventable complications.
