Introduction :
To prepare for Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital(OLMH) redevelopment project, all in-patient clinical services have been decanted in May 2022 to different hospitals within the cluster, including Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital (HKBH), Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH), Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Kowloon Hospital (KH). In OLMH premises, only out-patient services remain, which is in our OPD Block. In this regard, not only the services of OLMH are scattered throughout different locations, but also our staff. We do not have our own designated lecture theatre or activity room. We are facing difficulties in assembling our staff, providing training and functions. To overcome the challenges, we have to migrate to a new normal era.
Objectives :
1) To enhance the bonding among staff 2) To enhance the sense of belonging 3) To continue support and training for our staff
Methodology :
The new normal will include 3 types of new modes on training or activity. 1) On-site: interactive program or hand-on training program which will be conducted repeatedly in different hospitals. 2) Webinar and online training: devices were set up in our clinical locations of different hospitals to provide an easy assessable way to enhance communication, as well as provide webinar and online training, thus facilitating our staff connection and bonding. 3) Hybrid: with information technology setting, face-to-face training with activity is held in one venue and provides live broadcast for staff to participate, even though they are located in different areas.
Result & Outcome :
From May 2022 to December 2022, 8 months after decantation, 4 hospital activities and 13 training sessions were conducted. The total number of participants does increase 14% compared with the time before decantation. The activity evaluation showed that 99% of participants were satisfied with the arrangement. To conclude, both the active participation and positive feedback reflected the new modes of training and activity are welcome by our staff and assured that we have arrived the new normal era successfully.
