Introduction :
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the orthopaedics rehabilitation ward faced challenges in staff shortage and an increasing workload, which correlated to confirmed / close contact of COVID-19, deployment to a high-risk area, patient education and patient empowerment on hand hygiene. A healthcare assistant robot Temi has been launched since May 2022 at an orthopaedics rehabilitation ward in Yan Chai Hospital to provide automated services and routine nursing tasks.
Objectives :
(1) To design a set of nursing care programs and routines for a healthcare assistant robot Temi (2) To evaluate patient perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and satisfaction towards Temi robot.
Methodology :
A self-administered questionnaire for patient perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and satisfaction survey – Temi Robot was used. An evaluation survey has been done in July 2022 with 60 surveys received.
Result & Outcome :
The perceived usefulness, ease of use, and satisfaction were 6.12 ± 0.53 points, 5.92 ± 0.47 points, and 5.90 ± 0.54 points out of 7, respectively. For a health care robot to be successfully adopted by users, it is essential that adequate ease of use is implied when using the robot. The perceived usefulness, ease of use, and satisfaction from the evaluation showing usability of a high level, which implies that the needs from users were met. When evaluating the perceptions of the robot, it was found that overall, the robot was perceived positively.
The healthcare assistant robot has the essential purpose of improving the quality of life of users, and it is expected to show significant growth to meet the demands arising from the COVID-19 outbreak and demographic changes, such as the rise in the elderly population.
