Introduction :
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the physiotherapy medical team has implemented some measures to restrict the number of patients to gym, which increase the demand of ward treatment. In addition with the limited visiting hour of care giver, who cannot perform regular ward exercise to patients nowadays, ward rehabilitation exercise by supporting staff play an important role to maintain patient’s functional ability. However, the numbers of new supporting staff are increasing and it is necessary to standardize the ward treatment skills for service enhancement in medical ward rehabilitation.
Objectives :
The objective of this CQI is to standardize ward treatment skills of supporting staff in physiotherapy medical team
Methodology :
Preparation phase- prepare ward rehabilitation exercise demonstration card.
Implementation phase- supporting staff need to study on the ward rehabilitation exercise via QR code before assessment by a PTI.
Evaluation phase: Questionnaire to collect supporting staff feedback on standardized ward treatment skills.
Result & Outcome :
A 100% full compliance rate on ward treatment exercise skills indicate that all medical and relieving supporting staff are capable to perform the listed ward treatments, including limbs mobilization exercise, strengthening exercise and functional exercise in a standardized way. They are able to perform ward treatments for our patients independently after assessing their skills through the demonstration videos. However, most supporting staff did not pay much attention on the occupational safety and health that they usually perform the limbs mobilization exercise with the plinth lower than waist level. Strong reminder is given to them that wrong posture should be avoided during work.

Meanwhile, all medical supporting staff agreed the demonstration videos help standardizing the ward treatment practice. They also agreed that by keeping the ward treatment performed in a standardized way among supporting staff are good for working efficiency.
