Introduction :
GH TBCU is a specialized medical unit providing comprehensive services in Respiratory Medicine. Intubation is the last resort of management for patients who suffered from respiratory failure. It is a high risk procedure which requires advanced techniques to provide safe patient care. On top of that, with the emergence of COVID-19, infection control for intubation is a huge challenge as it is an aerosol generating procedure (AGP). In order to minimize the risk of spreading of pathogens, guidelines and practices are updated for AGPs globally.
Objectives :
Airway Management Training wokshop was organized for nursing staff of the department for consolidation of the airway management techniques as well as introduction of new guidelines and new equipment (such as video laryngoscopy).
Methodology :
Airway Management Training was organized in the format of lectures and simulation sessions.
Result & Outcome :
The mean score for the pre-test was 7.6 out of 10, and mean score for the post-test increased to 9.2 out of 10 after the training. Pre test and post test were designed to assess the knowledge level on airway mangement before and after the training respectively.
