Introduction :
A 50 years old female with a history of end ileostomy and shows loose to watery stool after surgery. She has also shown multiple deep skin creases at the lower part extended to bilateral abdominal areas and the acute surgery developed as short gut syndrome. She has been transferred to HHH for problems of leakage and peri-stoma skin. Therefore, the high output system has been applied to the patients for controlling the amount of output.
Objectives :
High output systems in high output stoma’s care could be compatible with high-flow stoma bags, to help patients to reduce their worries on leakage on stoma bags as well as to improve their quality of life. In this case study, it will share the experience of the effectiveness used in the patients with high output systems for high output stoma caused by short gut syndrome.
Methodology :
Assess the patient skin condition, stoma assessment, comprehensive assessment on output and input.
Meanwhile, monitor the output amount and determine whether the system could be tolerated. During the monitoring, doctor, dietician, and other medical professionals had been involved in this assessment to ensure the system could go smoothly
Result & Outcome :
Patient has improved their skin problem by management the high output with the new system. It could be reduced lots of worries on patient in daily life as well as to let them maintain basic daily needs in the future.
