The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic causes a significant disease and clinical burden to Hong Kong. COVID-19 vaccines can protect individuals from severe illness and complications from COVID-19. Thus, the Government strongly recommended eligible persons to get vaccination as soon as possible to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on public health and for the community to resume normal life in a sustainable way.

In this regard, public hospitals, out-patient clinics & specialist out-patient clinics, etc. started to provide COVID-19 vaccination to eligible persons to dovetail with the Government COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

IT solutions are pursued to achieve prompt screening of patients who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination & improve in-patient access to COVID-19 vaccines in in-patient setting to increase the vaccination population.
Objectives :
1. To develop a data driven in-patient list of COVID Vaccine Eligibility in HA Drive enabling the screening of eligible in-patient for COVID-19 vaccination by hospital level.

2. To integrate the COVID-19 vaccination records and recovery history from Department of Health Central Vaccine Database (DH VDB) to obtain more comprehensive vaccination and recovery history of in-patients.
Methodology :
The data driven in-patient list of COVID Vaccine Eligibility including the followings:

1. In-patient list with patient data from Patient Administration Systems (PAS), e.g. name, age, case no., specialty, ward, etc.

2. COVID-19 vaccination records and recovery data from DH VDB

3. Injection recommendation for general public and immunocompromised persons with reference to Centre for Health Protection (CHP) Joint Scientific Committee with the Chief Executive’s Expert Advisory Panel (JSC-EAP) recommendations
Result & Outcome :
With the development of data driven in-patient list of COVID Vaccine Eligibility, frontline users are able to screen out COVID-19 vaccine eligible patients swiftly and provide the vaccination according to devised clinical workflow of individual department so as to increase the population immunity against COVID-19 virus.
