Introduction :
One of the core components of person-centred care is engaging patients in deciding their own treatment and care. Shared decision making not only improve patient’s satisfaction, it also have a positive treatment outcome. ‘’ Plan Do Study Act’’ (PDSA) is a four-stage model used for improving a process, this study is to assess how small changes can have an impact on shared decision-making in pharmacist chemotherapy consultation service.
Objectives :
To improve patient satisfaction in pharmacist chemotherapy consultation by improving shared decision-making.
Methodology :
Patients who enrolled in new chemotherapy consultation will be participated in a survey based on the validated ‘’ Benefit, Risk, Alternatives, do Nothing’’ (BRAN) questions. Data was collected from consultations over two months, using two PDSA cycles. The first cycle involved shared decision-making training for pharmacists and the second cycle involved patient information leaflet.
Result & Outcome :
At the time of analysis, the mean score for first PDSA cycle was 3. Mean score through ‘’ Plan Do Study Act’’ is expected to be improved after two PDSA cycles.
