International Trends: Innovation in Health Care

Speaker 08:45 AM - 09:45 AM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2023/05/17 00:45:00 UTC - 2023/05/17 01:45:00 UTC
The tectonic plates of health services are shifting radically in this, the third decade of the twenty-first century.  In response to challenges to every health system across the world, including more patient demands, accelerating chronic and complex conditions, a stressed and stretched workforce, and insufficient resources to pay for all the newer technologies that are emerging, health services are playing catch-up.
In this keynote, we take a look at some international trends that I have been following, analysing, and commenting on with 148 colleagues covering 152 countries for the last 10 years. In this talk, we will discuss five key innovative solutions to the challenges healthcare faces. These are:
- Shift left, stay left.
- The 60:30:10 equation.
- High performing hospital of the future.
- The future of health care to 2030 – the 5+9 model.
- Learning health systems.

Post Pandemic Mental Health Care – Opportunities and Challenges

Speaker 08:45 AM - 09:45 AM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2023/05/17 00:45:00 UTC - 2023/05/17 01:45:00 UTC
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged healthcare services worldwide, requiring rapid decision-making and adaptation to new ways of working. Mental health issues were particularly noted during the pandemic and there continues to be significant impact on the communities during the post pandemic period. COVID-19 also highlighted the issues of equity in access to services especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. There is also an increased demand for mental health services within the context of significant workforce shortages and a stressed workforce.

This presentation will provide an overview of opportunities and challenges in mental health service delivery since the pandemic. The presentation will focus on a range of issues from primary prevention of mental health morbidity to management of complex and chronic diseases.
